In Montpelier on Picton Street and York Road, the site of the great
Italian Deli, also a couple of cafes such as the Bristolian and
the One stop Thali, and considered the best restaurant in Bristol
is the Bells Diner.
Eaton is full of the multi culturalism found usually in large cities
around the world. Here in Eaton they even have their own festival
known as ‘Respect in the West’ and celebrates its diversity.
A large number of Bristol’s Indian community reside here,
including Afro Caribbean and Somalian communities.
Located here is the Bristol Sweet Mart that has the largest stock
of Indian foods in the South West and has lots of choice in restaurants
at great prices like the Eastern Taste or even the Old Casbah cafe
on the busy St. Marks Road are very popular. The Teohs restaurant
which is a combination of Chinese/Thai is located in the acclaimed
Tobacco Factory Theatre and Art Space and is most popular.
Nowadays it is not surprising to read a restaurant review of a
Bristol restaurant in one of the national newspapers, such is the
healthy competition between them. Harvey’s Restaurant which
is located in ancient wine cellars is great, as well as the fantastic
Markwicks which is located in an impressive former Bank Vault.
If you want to dine overlooking a nice river view, why not check
out the Glass Boat, which is moored on the floating harbour. For
the less expensive dinner, try out Byzantium for French cuisine
and watch the Belly dancer do her thing, while Belgos has great
Belgium frites and mussels. St. Nicholas Market has great stalls
selling all sorts of food from crepes to curry.
A pub lunch can be only ideal and places like All Bar One or the
popular Renato’s bar as well as the Severnshed are all recommended.
A cafe can be enchanting and none better than the Mud Dock which
was voted cafe of the year.
For the best fish in town, go to Redland to the restaurant known
as Red Snapper, or just dine in fine splendour at Clifton surrounded
by Georgian grandeur at the Bouboulinas Greek restaurant.
